Change Management

Consulting is our passion.

Open space and maker feeling

SAP Lab in Palo Alto is one of the 16 dynamic co-innovation centers SAP set up in key technological areas to drive innovation for its core business. I was really surprised – is this really a part of the SAP world? Open space and unusual types of offices for the design teams, lots of 3D printers and fancy models in a maker space called d.shop. And the core business is strong: more than 75% of world’s transactions touches SAP.

Design Thinking and Design Doing – Innovation roadmap

Design Thinking and Design Doing

Hasso Platter, the co-founder, brought Design Thinking from IDEO to SAP very early. Key objective: boost user experience! And more than ten years later: Red Dot design awards, the Fiori-Design line for User Interface, three Apphaus-Locations and 2016 the co-operation with Apple are the brilliant visible results. Uwe Palm, program manager, showed us the impressive rack of awards.

Global project work

Writings on walls

Project teams have their own project rooms, only separated by curtains. The walls are either video walls or whiteboards. The teams write all the most relevant notes on the walls – limited space forces priorities. International teamwork is supported by an info wall with time zones and pictures of all team members. Simple and effective.

d.shop tinkershop provides 3D printers, VR/AR Technology and IoT devices

IoT – Internet of things

The d-shop looks like a playground and is a good room for hackathons around the IoT. A model of a smart home with lots of sensors is the touchable basis for a new business model for an insurance company. A nice example for gamification of complex change.
